L4D Exploits & Bugs >>Fixed<< A list of SourceMod Plugins for Servers
[Updated] Fast bash exploit detector - warn, kick and ban players abusing the fast bash script automatically!
Had enough of players abusing exploits on your server? Annoyed that you can't baby-sit the players because you have real life commitments (like sleep )? Do the following bugs and exploits really bug you?
* Survivors abusing the fast bash exploit
* Survivors bashing the No Mercy Sewers shutter door to avoid the lift crescendo event
* Griefers killing themselves using the console to spoil your game
* Team switching randomly after map change
* Infected griefers spawning tons of bosses using spectate
* Players joining a game of Versus, forcing the BOT to stand there doing nothing while they load into the game
This thread shows you, the server admin, how to get rid of these bugs and exploits until Valve get around to fixing them for us all. It's quick and easy and all the plugins listed in this thread are tested to work with no negative affect on the game play of Left 4 Dead.
How does it work?
These bugs and exploits are fixed by using plugins, which are modifications of the game. To run the plugins on your server you need SourceMod installed on your server. Once you have this you can begin to install the plugins on your server which will fix the above problems for you.
Installing SourceMod/MetaMod
This post has links to help you install SourceMod/MetaMod on your server (Thanks, Velak!)
Installing Plugins
Once you have this done, download the plugins from the links below and upload them using FTP to, (if you rent a remote server) or save them in (if you own the server locally) the following folder:
/left4dead/addons/sourcemod/plugins
Once you have done this, make sure you set any cvars you need to set (as per the advice in the threads below) and then restart your server to let the plugin take effect. If you have problems, remove the plugin and seek advice.
NB: Make sure to read the threads linked below completely! There will be advice, instructions and lots of other helpful things.
Warning! If you are not sure what you're doing, do not mess with your server as you might stop it from working. Make sure you do your homework first. There are plenty of resources available - feel free to ask in this thread or on the threads linked below if you need help.

Left 4 Dead Fixes
This list is updated by me as soon as I know of any changes or new bug fixes. This thread is for fixes only, not game play modifications!
* New - Fast Bash Exploit Detector [Removed Link Temporarily As Needs Tweaking] - Warns players abusing the fast bash exploit, then kicks or bans them (depending on settings)
* NM3 Shutter Door Exploit - Read the thread for various fixes
* Alternative NM3 Shutter Door Exploit - Allows the tank to still break the door, prevents only survivors from doing so.
* Kill command blocker - prevents survivors abusing the kill command to grief other players by killing themselves then leaving
* Team Switch Bug Unscrambler - Switches teams back to how they were before the new map loaded
* Infected Spectate & Spawn Exploit Fix - Prevents exploiting spectate to spawn lots of boss infected - it simply kills the BOT that the player leaves behind each time they enter spectate. Also, as a nice bonus, the mod stops players from automatically entering the game when they connect after the map has started (when the players have left the safe room). Instead, the player is loaded into spectate and is given the team selection window, to choose their team and then play. This stops survivors stopping and standing still while the player loads.
NB: If Valve fix any of these bugs be sure to remove the plugin from your server to avoid any potential conflict. Below is a list of mods that have since been fixed by Valve - if you have a mod that's on this list, it's strongly suggested that you delete the mod immediately. Do this by simply deleting the file from the plugins folder (shown above) and restarting your server.

als het goed is word die deur de volgende update gefixed door valve.
het idee is dat dat een deur is die infected kapot kunnen maken om gemakkelijk binnen te komen, dit is op meerdere plekken ook zo met muren. ze gaan nu dus onderscheid maken tussen het damage systeem tegen objecten van survivors en infected om dit echt op te lossen.

January 14, 2009 - Left 4 Dead Update Released
Left 4 Dead has been updated with a host of fixes, tweaks and new features, including enhancements to Versus mode for improved competitive play. The full change list is below. For PC users the update will be applied automatically via Steam. Meanwhile, the update will be made available to Xbox 360 players in the coming weeks.
General
Fixed Survivors being able to climb surfaces marked for versus infected only
Fixed a class of SurvivorBot bugs dealing with rescuing downed players
Players can no longer grab ladders while flying through the air after a Tank punch
Shooting near a car with an alarm that has already fired the alarm will no longer make chirping noises
Improved loading time
Fixed mini-gun physics exploit
Fixed propane tanks (and other physics objects) causing players to fall through elevators
Fixed rare achievement bug issues
Fixed several map exploits
Fixed various match making issues
Fixed NAT traversal issues
Versus Changes
Added HUD elements to show status of other infected players
Changed color of infected player name in chat to red
Fixed exploit where players could spawn infected bots
Fixed instance where a Survivor changing to the infected team would be attacked by infected bots

Voor de gamers die de originele Left 4 Dead wat te simpel of onrealistisch vonden is er nu een nieuwe mod beschikbaar voor de game. De mod zorgt ervoor dat de game wat realistischer is, dit zorgt er onder andere voor dat de moeilijkheidsgraad een stuk hoger ligt. Enkele veranderingen zijn het weghalen van wapens in een safe-house, weghalen van de zaklamp, en de mod zorgt ervoor dat zombies alleen neer gaan door ze in het hoofd te raken. Check de volledige lijst hieronder, of bekijk het filmpje om de mod in actie te zien. De mod kun je hier downloaden
- New weapon sounds (Most made by Doku but with others grabbed from various soundpacks).
- New weapon scripts - Adjusted accuracy, recoil, rate of fire, clip sizes etc.
- Weapon melee less effective.
- No survivor bots.
- Slower survivors and zombies - to change the pace of the game and make it feel more tense.
- Higher density of zombies on the maps, more frequent hordes/ambushes.
- No special zombies (apart from tweaked tanks for the finales).
- Headshots only to kill zombies (apart from molotovs / pipebombs etc).
- Increased damage when hit from behind - you must always be aware of you
surroundings, don't turn you back on that unchecked room
- No in-game music - You have to indentify incoming hordes by the sounds of
the zombies.
- All maps tweaked (apart from part 4 of the blood harvest campaign)
- Removed weapon,ammo & health pack spawns from safe rooms. Weapons and health packs are now limited and scattered around the maps, so you have to search for them. There are no ammo points in the map so if your primary gun runs out you'll need to find another. However everyone still has infinate pistol (although with smaller clip and less accuracy).
- HUD completely revised - It now only shows your own health, no crosshair/inventory or teammate statistics (If you equip first aid then you can see your teammates health when you aim at them).
- Added in-game laser dot - Useful for close to medium range. This emphasises the sniper rifle as a profficient long range weapon as its the only gun with an effective long range aiming mechanism.
- Removed flashlight - This adds much more tension to darker areas of the map, especially when you need to search for weapons or first aid... Be careful in the dark...
- Various other smaller tweaks.

Valve heeft vandaag aangekondigd dat er deze lente nieuwe content zal verschijnen voor Left 4 Dead. Dit zal ondermeer zorgen voor de nieuwe multiplayer-modus Survival en twee nieuwe campaigns voor de Versus Mode.

De pc-versie van deze zombie-shooter krijgt echter wel wat extra content in de vorm van de gratis Source Software Development Kit. Hiermee kunnen spelers zelf campaigns in elkaar zetten welke vervolgens via het matchmaking-systeem van Left 4 Dead met anderen gedeeld kunnen worden.
Een specifieke releasedatum voor de downloadbare content kon ontwikkelaar Valve nog niet geven. Ook een prijs voor de content is nog niet bekend gemaakt.
